Shood i tell them to stop??? plz help!!!!!?

me and this guy hav been really close for a looooonnngggggggg time.....i call him my mommy cuz its our inside joke cuz hes overprotective like a mother shood be......he has gone out with 3 of my other frends and now two of them and 1 other person is trying to get him to ask me out......i have no problem with this cuz i do like him(ALOT!) but the one frend that went out with him that isnt trying 2 get us together doesnt like the idea at all........she has warned me that if i say yes wen he asks me out(if he duz) then she wont speak to me again......she wuz never a real great frend(she talked alot of crap bout me behind my bak, ect.) but i hate the idea of being hated or disliked.......he asks i will say yes i kno that but if he duz i want him to do it on hiz own.....shood i tell my frends to leave him alone??? and if he duz ask shood i say yes???
