Why are asians considered exotic?

I always hear about how men find asian women "exotic" but that doesn't make sense to me? I mean looking at the world population by race, asians make up around 56% of the world's population, whites make up around 15%, and middle eastern around 8%. So over half of the world's population is ASIAN. There are far more asian women than white women, black women, middle eastern women, etc,. so I don't get it. By definition, "exotic" would mean that they are a "rarity" by they really aren't. ????
